A KINDHEARTED Halesowen schoolboy is all set to scale the highest mountain in Wales to raise £1,000 for a charity which helps wounded soldiers and is appealing for sponsorship.

Jack Morgan will trek up Snowdon to raise money for Walking With the Wounded which helps injured servicemen and women with the aim of getting them back into long term employment after they have left the Armed Forces.

The ten-year-old Newfield Park Primary pupil, of Cherry Orchard Avenue, was inspired to take on the challenge after seeing the documentary Harry’s Mountain Heroes about five injured troops taking on one of the world’s toughest challenges Mount Everest supported by Prince Harry.

Jack wrote to Prince Harry asking him if he would accompany him and received a letter back saying Harry would be in Afghanistan at the time.

His mom Rebecca Morgan said: “We are very proud of Jack. He has been up Snowdown before but he said wanted to do again, but for charity this time.

“He just likes raising money for other people.

“When he has reached his sponsorship target we will set a date for the trek. He wants to raise as much money as possible because it is such a good cause.”

Rebecca said Jack’s step dad Mick Cowles was in the army for 23 years and knows soldiers who are returning from Afghanistan with severe injuries.

Mick is now a freelance outdoor activities instructor and will accompany Jack on the trek up Snowdon along with Rebecca.

Jack would like businesses and individuals to come forward to help him reach his £1k target.
