VISITORS had a blooming great time at the Rowley Regis and Blackheath Horticultural Society’s Annual Show.

Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris opened the society’s 78th Annual Show at the Moose Lodge in Rowley Regis on Saturday and handed out prizes to competition winners.

The wet summer meant vegetables on show were not as large as usual but this did not diminish the quality of the entrants.

The best fruit and veg were auctioned off and Mr Morris was the auctioneer Horticultural Society’s Gary Bowen’s assistant.

Mr Morris said: “The Horticultural and Chrysanthemum Society is always a great event and it is incredible to see the range, size and quality of fruit, vegetables and flowers grown by local members.

“I do have to stop myself from getting carried away with bidding at the auction because it all looks so good, but last year I think my children got a bit tired after a few weeks of leek pie, leek soup and leek lasagne.

“This year, I picked up some prize-winning chrysanthemums and a fuchsia, which look lovely at home.”
