THE Hope Centre in Halesowen had a fun day to remember this weekend.

Local residents and dignitaries, including the Mayor and Mayoress of Dudley, attended the event at the Andrew Centre community centre on Saturday.

The centre was also teeming with youngsters taking part in the Hope Centre Teen Challenge which will see the creche transformed into a charity clothes shop.

There was also music, dancing, bric-a-brac stalls and arts and crafts on show during the fun day.

Despite fighting a constant battle to remain open due to funding problems the centre has been hailed as a thriving example of a community centre.

Centre manager Wendy Riley said: “There is always a lot going on at the Hope Centre and we are always delighted with the backing we get from the community and the Teen Challenge is no different.”
