THE Halesowen cartoonist who created Desperate Dan and Korky the Cat showcased his original illustrations at the Black Country this week.

The Mayor of Dudley Councillor Melvyn Mottram, a huge Desperate Dan fan, was delighted to meet 96-year-old Charles ‘Chas’ Grigg at the Black Country Museum.

The cartoonist, who worked as a freelance cartoonist at the Dandy and Beano, was at the Full of Life event for older people at the museum.

Councillor Melvyn Mottram, Mayor of Dudley, said: “It’s been fantastic to meet Chas and to look at some of his original artwork from the Dandy.

“I’ve got quite a collection of the comics myself and to meet the actual creator of Desperate Dan and Korky the cat has been great.”
