Mayor of Dudley Melvyn Mottram meets Halesowen cartoonist Chas Grigg.
THE Halesowen cartoonist who created Desperate Dan and Korky the Cat showcased his original illustrations at the Black Country this week.
The Mayor of Dudley Councillor Melvyn Mottram, a huge Desperate Dan fan, was delighted to meet 96-year-old Charles ‘Chas’ Grigg at the Black Country Museum.
The cartoonist, who worked as a freelance cartoonist at the Dandy and Beano, was at the Full of Life event for older people at the museum.
Councillor Melvyn Mottram, Mayor of Dudley, said: “It’s been fantastic to meet Chas and to look at some of his original artwork from the Dandy.
“I’ve got quite a collection of the comics myself and to meet the actual creator of Desperate Dan and Korky the cat has been great.”
