CUSTOMERS at Sainsbury’s Blackheath store are being given the chance to hold and photograph the Paralympic Torch next week as part of a national tour.

The iconic Flame was used in the 24-hour relay from Stoke Mandeville in Aylesbury, the home of the Paralympic Movement, to the Olympic Park in Stratford, London, to herald the start of the Games.

The Torch, which was one of 620 used in the relay, will be at the store on Tuesday (October 23) between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.

Manager Denver Martin said: "We've really enjoyed playing our part in raising awareness of the London 2012 Paralympic Games in Blackheath.

“For our customers, it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance for them to see the Torch and feel the buzz of the Paralympic Games, which we're proud to have sponsored.”
