A Halesowen stage performer is celebrating after being named star of the show.

Beth Hemmings, aged 25, was awarded Startime Variety's Sheila Darby award following the organisation's recent production Jack and the Beanstalk.

The gong is handed out every year to the member who has contributed most to the society.

Beth, a deputy nursery manager from Bromsgrove, has been a member of the group for 13 years.

Startime members are busy rehearsing for its pantomime Aladdin, at Cornbow Hall, Halesowen, from Wednesday January 30 to Saturday February 2, 2013.
