MP banks on coffee for charity boost
2:10pm Tuesday 16th October 2012 in News
STAFF at Halesowen’s branch of Barclays Bank took time out to back the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
They set up a tea and cake stall at the bank and raised £297 for the charity, which will be matched pound-for-pound by the bank.
Halesowen and Rowley Regis MP James Morris dropped in for a cuppa at the charity’s biggest annual fundraising event, which encourages people to donate the cost of their coffee and cake to Macmillan.
Mr Morris said: “I was delighted to be invited to join staff and customers at Barclays for their coffee morning and it was great to see them raise so much money for such an important cause.
“Macmillan Cancer Support provides vital emotional and practical support for cancer sufferers across Halesowen and Rowley Regis and they rely on fundraising events like this one and the others that took place around the constituency.”
The bank’s branch manager Dale Branford added: “I am delighted that we have once again been able to support Macmillan Cancer Support with their fundraising efforts.
“It was lovely to see so many customers joining in and generously donating to such a good cause and we were delighted that our local MP James Morris was also able to join us.”
