Barratt Homes has opened its doors to the first phase of its controversial Pavillions development on the former Coombs Wood cricket ground in Halesowen.
There has been a massive interest in the 59 new properties which will be a range of two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.
Barratt invited potential homeowners to view the houses last weekend and are positive about selling the homes fast due to the lack of available homes in the area.
A spokesman for Barratt Homes said: “We received a record number of enquires for the development with over 1,500 people registering their interest.”
The new Coombs Wood cricket ground and sports and social club is set to open on November 15.
In Blackheath the Bromford Housing Association are near to completing 36 new affordable homes in Carnegie Road.
The development will include 23 homes for affordable rent and 13 for shared ownership and is backed by Sandwell Council with funding from the Homes and Communities Agency for 26 of the homes to be energy efficient.
Mark Bridge, Bromford's development manager, said, "Bromford is delighted to be able to work with our partners to deliver much needed high quality affordable housing to meet the needs of the local community. “The successful development of this sort of scheme requires the support and efforts of many parties, but the results will be well worth all the hard work, and a welcome addition to our stock in the area.”
The scheme, which will also include eight garages, is surrounded by woodland and open space and has been built by contractor Marcity.
