THE jobs of four Phones 4 u concessions store staff based at Merry Hill are among those set to be saved after a deal was agreed with Dixons Carphone.

A spokesman for administrators PwC announced today (Wednesday) that an agreement had been reached with Dixons Carphone to offer roles to all Phones 4u staff based in concessions outlets at Currrys PC World stores.

Rob Hunt joint administrator and PwC partner said: “We're delighted to reach this agreement, thereby securing continued employment for more than 800 people. We would like to wish the transferring staff all the best in their new roles.

"We continue to engage with other parties regarding their interest in parts of the business."

The surviving Merry Hill concessions staff work in the Dixons Carphone outlet in Currys PC World at the shopping mall.

A further 45 retail workers employed at dedicated Phones 4 u stores at Merry Hill, Stourbridge, Dudley and Halesowen have yet to hear if their jobs will be saved.

Phones 4 u, which operates 700 outlets across the country, was hit hard by EE’s decision not to renew its contract from September 2015 which would leave it without a single network partner.
