TIRELESS Amy Williams will be putting her feet up for a while after completing a marathon running challenge that lasted throughout 2014.

The 27-year-dance teacher from Oldswinford ran a minimum of 20 minutes every day of the year after being issued with a challenge by her dad Ian over Christmas lunch.

Amy admitted: "There were some days when I thought I'd never do it and I found it really hard, but I was never going to give up. By the time it got to December, I could see the end was in sight and I was going to get there and it suddenly became a bit easier."

Intrepid Amy covered a total distance of 850 miles over the year, averaging 2.7 miles a day.

She also raised just over £3,300 in the process which will be donated to Mary Stevens Hospice.

Amy, who completed her epic challenge with a final run on New Year's Day in Mary Stevens Park, said: "I felt quite sad when it came to the end. I posted an event on Facebook and 30 people turned up to run with me.

"My parents Ian and Ann also came and brought champagne and cakes, so we could have a party in the park afterwards. I felt really, really proud.

"I also had loads and loads of emails on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day from people offering sponsorship, which was wonderful.

"I'm going to take a break from running now - but I'm not giving it up completely. I will keep running, but just a bit more moderately from now on."
