MARY Stevens Hospice is hosting an evening with former MP and TV personality Edwina Currie to raise funds for its cancer care work.

The ex-Junior Health Minister will be joining fundraisers at The Granary Hotel, in Heath Lane, Kidderminster, for a three course dinner on March 10 at 7.30pm.

Throughout the evening, various fundraising activities will be taking place, while Barclays Bank has agreed to match fund the money made by a raffle.

During the last two years, evenings with special guests Bob Champion and Ann Widdecombe have raised £4,000 and organiser Sue Williams is hoping that this year’s event will once again reach their target.

Lucy Baylis, community fundraiser, said: “I would like to thank Edwina for very generously giving up her time on this special evening to help raise funds for the hospice.

“I would also like to especially thank our amazing, hardworking volunteer Sue for organising this fantastic event for us.”

All proceeds from the evening will go towards helping Mary Stevens Hospice provide high-quality care for people living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses in Dudley borough.

The hospice’s care is free of charge but relies on donations and fundraising from the local community to raise more than 80 per cent of its £2.5 million annual running costs.

Tickets, costing £30 per person, can be bought by calling Sue Williams on 01562 883834 or 07536 111637, or emailing s.jordan171@btinternet.com
