POLICE have released a CCTV image of a woman they want to trace following a violent attack in Dudley town centre just before Christmas.

The assault took place in the early hours of Sunday December 14, 2014 in Tower Street.

A 36-year-old woman was approached by the woman between 12.30am and 1am, who, following a short verbal altercation, proceeded to kick, punch and slap her, causing her to fall to the ground.

The woman then continued to be abusive towards others in the street before walking off.

As a result of the assault, the woman suffered scratches and grazes to her neck, arms, legs and hip.

The woman is described as white, in her early 40s, five foot four inches tall and slim, with shoulder-length dark curly hair.

She was wearing a black leather jacket.

DC Martyn Wynn, based in the violence team at Smethwick, said: "This was a sustained attack in the middle of a busy street just before Christmas.

"There were lots of people around and we are hoping someone will recognise this woman and contact us.

"There were a number of other people who were also abused who we would like to speak to."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers confidentially on 0800 555111.
