DANY Jones didn't know what to think when her eight-year-old daughter Erin declared she wanted her 20-inch long hair chopped off for charity.

Erin hit upon the idea after attending Hagley 1st Brownies.

She plans to donate her flowing locks to the Little Princesses charity which helps children who have lost their own hair through cancer.

Not content with that, Erin will also be raising funds for Children with Cancer UK and is looking for people to support her.

Mum Dany said: "Like most little girls, Erin loves her long hair. But she came back from Brownies and said she wanted it cut off to help children with cancer.

"I said I would look into it and see where we could donate hair. But I wanted to do more than just donate hair and decided to see if we could raise some money as well.

"I set up a JustGiving page and we raised £240 in the first week alone.

"We've set a target of £1,000 and hope we can reach that total."

Erin, who lives at Winds Point, is set to have her hair cut at Hagley hair salon Edward Brooke in Worcester Road on Tuesday March 31 at 3.30pm.
