BOROUGH primary school pupils are currently preparing for an ultimate mathematics challenge which takes place next month.

Maths champs from across Dudley will be competing to be crowned the overall winner at the Primary Dudley Inter School Mathematics Championship on Wednesday June 3.

Sixty students will be fighting it out against other pupils, who have won their local heats, in two age categories - seven to nine and nine to 11.

Leader of Dudley Council, Councillor Pete Lowe, said: “It’s fantastic that these young students are getting a chance to showcase their considerable talents amongst their peers.”

The new Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Steve Waltho, will be on hand to present the winning prizes which have been donated by local businesses.

Prizes include 12 family match tickets to Stourbridge Football Club, vouchers to be spent at the Merry Hill Shopping Centre and Tesco, Helix maths equipment and trophies donated by Stourbridge’s Waitrose store and Dudley Council.
