THE Mayor of Dudley has teamed up with a Woodsetton brewery to share their significant birthdays.
Councillor Steve Waltho, who recently turned 60, paid a visit to Holden’s Brewery today (Thursday August 27) for a guided tour of the premises.
Whilst visiting the brewery, which is celebrating its centenary year, head brewer Ivan Hayes presented Cllr Waltho with a case of specially bottled ales emblazoned with a photograph of him in his mayoral robes.
He will raffle or auction off several of the bottles to raise cash for his five chosen charities, The Hope Centre in Halesowen, The What? Centre, Stourbridge, More Mascots Please in Brierley Hill, The Georgina Unit at Russells Hall Hospital and the West Midlands branch of Lupus UK based in Coseley.
Cllr Waltho said: “The visit was a fascinating look behind the scenes at how beer is produced.
“It was lovely to meet the staff who are continuing to expand the family business and I am delighted to raise a glass and toast their next 100 years.”
