A COMMUNITY led Christmas celebration will bring seasonal cheer to the residents of Netherton.

The Netherton Tenants and Residents Association have worked alongside the Netherton Regeneration Group to raise funds to bring light to the area for the festive period.

Carols will be sung around the anchor from 6.30pm on December 1, accompanied by the Cradley Heath Army Band, with the lights will be switched on at 6.45pm by the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Steve Waltho.

A Christmas market at the Savoy Centre will kick off at 7pm and Santa will drop by to meet children until 9pm.

Youngsters will also be able to enjoy fairground rides and have their faces painted at the fun-filled family event.

Councillor Gaye Partridge, cabinet member for housing, said: “It is brilliant to see local residents, organisations and businesses coming together to hold such a large event to be enjoyed by everyone.

“I would like to congratulate everyone who has worked to put on this celebration and to wish them the greatest success with the event.”
