WORK on a new pay and display car park in Dudley will start this week.

The Mahoe Centre will be demolished to increase land space for the new 90 space car park in Tower Street.

Dudley Council has appointed Coleman & Co to carry out the first stage of work and another contract will be let shortly for the laying of the new short stay car park.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, cabinet member for planning and economic development said the car park would be open to the public in the run up to Christmas, adding: "This will be good for the business community and for our shoppers, and also demonstrates our commitment to continuing the programme of regeneration in the town centre.”
