BOOK lovers can meet author Kit de Waal at an event in Dudley next month.

The Birmingham born writer, who was named Penguin Random House’s biggest debut author of 2016, will be at the Archives and Local History Centre on July 14.

She will be celebrating the release of her debut novel My Name is Leon.

Dudley libraries were given a number of pre-release copies of the novel, which have been distributed to reading groups in the borough to read and review ahead of the event.

Councillor Rachel Harris, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said: “We’re really pleased to be holding this event with one of the rising stars of British fiction and this is a great opportunity for the audience to discuss this acclaimed first novel with the author.”

Kit will be at the Tipton Road archives centre at 6.30pm.

The free event is open to all and will include light refreshments, a talk by the author and a question and answer session.
