THOSE who have experienced mental health issues in Dudley are being encouraged to take part in an art competition.
The Dawn Jones Art Prize has been running for 11 years and gives people the chance to express themselves through art.
The competition was set up by Maureen Jones, in memory of her daughter, Dawn, who committed suicide at the age of 25, following a long battle with depression.
Entries in two categories – ‘my journey with mental health' and 'what mental health means to me’ – are invited from borough residents over the age of 18, with experience of mental ill-health, whether that is personal experience, caring for someone with problems or working in the area.
The competition is being run through Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust and entries should be submitted by September 2, with the two winners receiving £100 in vouchers of their choice, along with the opportunity for their work to be displayed long-term in a public building.
