WALL Heath pub the Horse and Jockey is hosting a summer carnival on Sunday July 3.

Entertainment will include live bands, fairground rides, food and stalls plus an appearance from The Little Stage Company.

The carnival has been designed to help improve the area and is taking place for the benefit of Wall Heath Village People.

Michelle Preston, who runs the Horse and Jockey with husband Alan, said: "We've already done loads to help improve the place and we want to continue the good work."

Village People have already converted two patches of waste ground into public gardens and they host the Christmas lights switch-on every year.

Funds raised from the carnival will help to buy new lights and fund next year's entry in the Britain's Village in Bloom competition.

Michell added: "We all pull together to help make the village a better and brighter place.

"Everyone is welcome to the carnival, whether they live in the village or not. The more people that come along the better."

The carnival starts at noon and runs until 5pm.
