KATIE Fitzgerald’s in Wollaston is hosting a charity jam night in its cellar bar tomorrow night (Friday July 29) in memory of popular musician Mick Wood who died last year.

Such was the 61-year-old’s popularity, a host of musicians have agreed to take to the stage to raise cash in his name and for a good cause.

Money raised from the event will go towards a new £3million appeal launched by Mary Stevens Hospice where Mick, who died in March 2015, received care in his final days.

Eddy Morton, from Katie Fitzgerald's in Enville Street, described Mick as one of the pub’s “favourite customers and musicians” and he added: “Mick, like many other people, received care at the end of his life in the hospice and millions of pounds are needed in their latest appeal to continue to offer the amazing work they do.”

He is inviting musicians and music fans to pop along and play a few tunes or just be an audience member and he added: “We can promise some great songs and amazing performances.”

The event, which kicks off at 8pm, is being supported by the Stourbridgefoundation4 music.

There is no fixed admission fee - just donations to the appeal which will help to revamp and extend the day services unit at the Oldswinford hospice.
