AN approving thumbs up has been given to Stourbridge’s Mary Stevens Hospice following its latest inspection from the national health and care regulators.

The Hagley Road hospice, which provides care to those with life-shortening illness and their families, was scrutinised earlier this year on whether its services are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led – and the charity was rated ‘good’ across the board.

A 20-page Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors report spoke in-depth about the work of the hospice, the capability of the staff and the experience of patients and visitors, with special praise reserved for the management systems and processes in place across all areas of the organisation.

Stevan Jackson, hospice CEO, said: “It gives me a great deal of pride to note that the CQC did not single out a single area where the Mary Stevens Hospice team could perform better.

“Nevertheless, the trustees and the senior leadership team are determined to strive harder to provide even better care for many more people in Dudley borough in the future.”
