A BLACK Country man has set up a gaming group to help people struggling with their mental health.

Joe Speed has battled anxiety and depression from a young age and made two desperate suicide attempts while grieving for his stillborn son.

The 27-year-old, who lives in Sedgley, said he made a breakthrough after receiving counselling, adding: "It really helped to talk about Noah and now I'm learning to cope. If I'm feeling down, I know I need to talk."

Joe also found that painting war game miniatures helped him to relax, so in a bid to help others, he has launched One in Six Gaming.

The group, which will meet for the first time next Thursday (October 27) at the activity centre in Silver Jubilee Park, Coseley, will give people the chance to chat about their problems while playing a variety of games.

Speaking ahead of the first session, which will start at 7pm, Joe said: "I'm also going to have some model painting areas, some colouring books and lots of refreshments.

"There will be small raffle as well for people to win some small prizes.

"It's going to be a drop in session until 9.30pm, so people can just head along when they want to."

The group is free to attend but there will be a small charge for refreshments.
