POLICE are appealing for help to find a 32-year-old man who is wanted for questioning over an armed raid on the Co-op store in Kinver.

Staffordshire Police officers are eager to speak to Paul Brian Payne in relation to the robbery at the High Street store, where cigarettes, cash, stamps and Co-op savings vouchers were stolen.

Payne is described as having a distinctive tattoo on the right side of his neck and police have warned the public that he should not be approached if seen.

During the raid on December 8, 2016, three offenders, all whom had their faces covered, entered through the front doors of the store at about 9.45pm.

Police said that a male with a knife approached the shop assistant and held the knife up to her, before the three offenders ushered four women – three staff members and a customer – to the back of the shop.

The male with the knife and the other two offenders filled bags with cigarettes and money.

Once the bags were full, the male with the knife told the females to stay where they were and all three offenders fled back into the store and out of the main doors.

Although very shocked by the incident, none of the women were harmed in the raid.

Detective Inspector Wain, of Staffordshire Police, said: “This was a cowardly attack, which has caused considerable distress to hardworking members of our community.

“We are committed to finding those responsible.

“I would urge anyone who has any information to come forward, so we can bring these offenders to justice.”

Anyone who can provide Staffordshire Police with information on Payne’s whereabouts, or anyone who may have seen him recently, are being urged to call 999 immediately, or anyone with information on the raid is asked to call 101 quoting incident 775 of December 8.

Alternatively Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111, where information left can neither be recorded nor traced.
