DUDLEY’S mental health chiefs are looking for residents who would like to volunteer and help their local communities.

Voluntary roles have become available within Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust’s community development worker (CDW) team to promote mental wellbeing across the borough.

The organisation has called for someone who is warm, open, honest and empathetic, with experience of community work, event planning and mental health conditions.

CDWs act as advocates, signposting service users to both statutory and voluntary agencies which provide a range of self-help materials, while also raising awareness of mental health.

The volunteer placement, which includes full training, will involve setting up and running community support groups, delivering basic mental health and cultural awareness training, holding drop-in wellbeing sessions, and planning and hosting awareness events.
