STOURBRIDGE shoppers were alarmed this lunchtime as police swarmed a High Street nightclub.
Two police cars, with their sirens blazing, sped into the town centre at about 1.35pm today (Thursday, May 25) before pulling up outside Chicago’s.
A number of police officers entered the Ryemarket-based venue, some through the front entrance and a couple through the side door.
The police presence raised concern for High Street shoppers who witnessed the incident unfolding.
One witness told the News: “I was just standing here when the cars came speeding down the road and pulled up outside.
“About five or six officers went storming in, but I have no idea why. There didn’t seem to be anything going on.”
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said the incident involved the nightclub’s security alarm which had been set off accidentally.
