AN 81-year-old woman had to be taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital following a crash in Kingswinford yesterday afternoon (Sunday, July 23).

The elderly lady, who was driving a Vauxhall Corsa, was involved in a crash with a 54-year-old man, who was driving a BMW, at the junction of Stallings Lane and Charterfield Drive at about noon.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent an ambulance and paramedic officer to the scene, while Midlands Air Ambulance also attended.

Paramedics treated both patients for their injuries – the woman suffered a fractured wrist and ankle, as well as chest pain.

She was mobilised and given pain relief before being taken to the Birmingham major trauma hospital by land ambulance.

The driver of the BMW suffered seat belt type pain, but was discharged at the scene after being assessed by the ambulance crew.
