TWO drivers had a lucky escape after a crash outside a Quinton nursery this morning (Wednesday).

The smash outside Happy Days Nursery in Hagley Road West involved a van and a Porsche Cayenne, which had hit a wall.

The van driver, a 63-year-old man, had been able to get out of the vehicle unaided but complained of rib and seatbelt pain.

He was assessed by paramedics, who administered pain relief before taking him to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a precaution.

The 22-year-old man driving the Porsche had some minor seatbelt pain but was discharged at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said given the damage to the wall and the vehicles - including another unoccupied van - it was fortunate that no-one was seriously hurt.

There were no casualties within the nursery.
