PEOPLE have been invited to show their support for heroes of the Battle of Britain this weekend.

Dudley Royal Air Force Association (RAFA) and Dudley Council will be paying tribute to the people who fought and died in the infamous airborne battle in Dudley on Sunday (September 17).

A service at St Thomas and St Luke’s Church, also known as Top Church, will start at 11.30am, followed by a parade through the town centre.

Led by the Kingswinford ATC squadron band, the parade which will set off from Priory Road, will include members of RAFA, borough RAF Air Cadet squadrons and - for the first time - serving personnel from RAF Cosford.

It will end at the cenotaph in Ednam Road where a short service will take place, including a period of silence and laying of wreaths.

The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Dave Tyler, said: “Events like this remind us all of the huge sacrifice they make and I hope that people will come along on the day to show their support.”
