A MAJOR fire at a Brierley Hill factory last night (Thursday, September 14) involved a large number of wooden pallets.

West Midlands Fire Service crews from across the Black Country were alerted to the blaze at Silver End Industrial Estate in Brettell Lane at about 7.40pm.

Five fire engines including firefighters from Brierley Hill Stourbridge, Dudley and Haden Cross stations were needed to tackle the fire before it was dampened it.

The fire involved a large number of wooden pallets which were alight next to an industrial unit.

Crews used three hose reels to put out the flames, while the police were called and the buildings electrics were isolated.

Pictures from the fire service showed the severity of the fire, which had been extinguished by about 10.30pm.

Firefighters revisited the scene at 11pm to make sure there were no signs of the fire remaining.
