MUSICAL theatre star Amy Thornton brought some West End sparkle to the start of a Stourbridge stage school's autumn term.

Amy, who has starred in Matilda, Rock Of Ages and Flashdance in the West End, stopped off at Stagecoach Performing Arts Stourbridge to teach a very special Matilda workshop.

Despite currently filming for Mamma Mia 2 - the singer, dancer and actress, who is also associate choreographer on The Bodyguard musical, took time out of her busy schedule to put students at Stagecoach through their paces on Saturday.

She said after her visit: "The students have been fantastic today and have worked to such a high standard - I'm sure lots of them will go far in the industry."

Principal Catherine Needle said "We are so lucky to be able to offer such wonderful opportunities to our students. We welcome performers from the West End every term at Stagecoach, which really inspires the children."
