TALENTED Lower Gornal pupils will take to the stage to perform Billy Elliot.
The show follows the life of an 11-year-old coal miner's son whose life is changed forever when he stumbles upon a ballet class.
When the instructor, Mrs Wilkinson, recognises his talent, the young boy becomes torn between his unexpected love of dance and the disintegration of his family.
To prepare for the production, youngsters from Ellowes Hall Sports College took part in tap dancing lessons and a workshop with Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Deputy headteacher John Bailey said: "Following on from the success of Chicago last year and confident in our students’ incredible choreography, singing and acting skills, we thought we would take on the challenge of Billy Elliot.
"This is the fifteenth large-scale school production in as many years and involves around 100 students and staff.
"We have two casts that alternate nights giving more students the opportunity to perform."
Tickets start at £8 for performances between November 15 and 24.
