HUNDREDS of Dudley schoolchildren recently spent three days learning more about different faiths.

Sledmere Primary School recently hosted the bi-annual Faith City event and welcomed youngsters from Kates Hill, Netherbrook and Belle Vue primary schools to discover more about Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism.

Damian Ward, headteacher at the School Drive school, said children were inspired to ask “many deep and meaningful questions”, and added : “This event develops their understanding of other people's religious belief and practice and is vital to support our multi-faith and multi-cultural community.”

Mr Ward wished to thank everyone who had been involved, including event co-ordinator Avi Basrai.

Dudley North MP Ian Austin, who attended the event, said: “It was great to see the pupils learning about other faiths and learning that we all have so much more in common than that which divides us.

“Well done to everyone at Sledmere and all the people who came in to talk about their religion.”
