MUSIC fans with a fondness for tracks from the 1950s are urged to head to Dudley’s Fountain Arcade this weekend.

A team from the Black Country Living Museum will be there between 10am and 4pm on Saturday (April 21) asking shoppers to share their favourite songs from the decade which marked the birth of rock 'n' roll to help them put together a playlist for its recreation of Stanton’s Music shop.

Black Country Radio will be on hand to help set the scene on the day, broadcasting live from the event, which falls on the same day as record shops nationwide take part in National Record Store Day.

Glenis Williams, the museum's community engagement manager, said: “Music can have such an emotive effect on people and we hope that the people of Dudley will come and join us to share their favourite songs of the era so that when we open the recreated Stanton’s in 2022, its visitors will get a sense of the mood of the Black Country in the 1950s.”

Zyllah Moranne-Brown, head of marketing for Black Country Radio, added: “We know that music plays such an important part of many people’s lives and can evoke some incredible memories of days gone by.

"Black Country Radio is looking forward to being part of capturing people’s memories."
