A GROUP of enterprising Stourbridge ladies who started up their own jewellery business are showcasing their work.

Crystal Eyes was set up in September last year by a group of ladies who attend the Thomas Pocklington Trust based at the Mary Stevens centre.

They obtained a small business loan to get them started and cover the costs of materials and then sold their work at various craft fairs just before Christmas.

The group are self managing and self financing design and make jewellery which they sell and the money they get helps them to replenish their stock.

Crystal Eyes has taken off and going from strength to strength and they are currently showcasing their work at Stourbridge library and will be there for the next four weeks.

Development manager Ann Evett said: "The business is doing brilliantly, the trust gave them a loan which they have paid back and the money they make now enables them to buy materials and have some more stalls."

"The trust is also doing really well and we have more volunteers to help."

The women who are involved in the business all suffer from sight loss and they adapt and overcome any problems they come across whilst making their jewellery.

They all attend the centre on Monday mornings and have been making jewellery for over a year before they set up their business.

Members fro the Thomas Pocklington Trust recently had a day out to the Houses of Parliament thanks to Lynda Waltho MP .

During the visit the group also gave Lynda some of their jewellery they had made as a thank you.
