A MAN has been jailed for the manslaughter of a Norton immigrant after a night out turned to tragedy.
Lukasz Tombak, aged 26, of Stourbridge Road, Kidderminster, was sentenced to two years in prison at Worcester Crown Court today (Thursday, July 9) for the manslaughter of 40-year-old Fazel Yacoub.
Iraqi born Mr Yacoub, who was also known as James, died after he suffered a serious head injury during an argument with Tombak near the former Zanzibar night club in Castle Road, Kidderminster, on October 16, 2008.
Tombak, who was born in Poland, had previously admitted the manslaughter of his former work colleague from the Hartlebury firm Forest Garden.
Mr Yacoub, who moved to Britain in 1991, died in hospital shortly after the incident and police say the case shows how a blow to the head could have tragic consequences.
Detective Inspector Dean Jones, of West Mercia Police, said: “Mr Yacoub and the defendant had been out on a works do.
“There was an argument and Mr Yacoub received a blow to the face and fell to the ground. He hit his head and although an ambulance was called he died soon after arrival at hospital.
“It is very sad that a night out ended in these circumstances, and this case clearly demonstrates how a blow which would normally cause only minor injuries can have tragic consequences.
“Mr Yacoub’s family have been devastated by his death, and our thoughts are with them.”
