TALENTED borough brain injury survivors are showcasing their work at an exhibition at Dudley Museum and Art Gallery.
The display of art work is called ‘Brain Injury: Creating Art out of Trauma’ and has been set up by Headway Black Country as part of a rehabilitation programme designed to improve individuals’ co-ordination as well as enabling creative expression and boosting social confidence.
The charity, which is based in Martin Hill Street, provides support, services and information to brain injury survivors, their families and carers.
One of the exhibitors at the show includes Neil Thompson, who has spent the last seven years rebuilding his life after sustaining his injury.
He said: “I have discovered a talent for art. Headway Black Country is most beneficial to me. Attending the Day Opportunities services has enabled me to develop new skills and grow in confidence. The art group is very therapeutic, it has helped my self-esteem.”
The exhibition runs at the St James’s Road museum until November 26.
