THE Young Ones and their guests are getting set to bring to life much-loved fairytale Cinderella to mark four decades of treading the boards.

The company, which provides a platform for aspiring young theatre stars aged eight to 18 to perform, will be putting on its 40th anniversary production at Netherton Arts Centre, Northfield Road, Netherton, from Saturday January 21 to Saturday January 28.

Veteran performer Mike Bradley will pair up with Grant Chapman to star as the Ugly Sisters, while real-life sisters Esther and Chloe Turner will be taking on the roles of Cinderella and The Prince respectively.

The cast will also be joined by popular adult performers from past shows who have been invited back to make guest appearances in the milestone production.

Ken Allen, Sheila Clift, Richard Cope, Val Cope, Alex Detheridge, Janet Kirkham, Julia Siviter, Robert Nutt and Alan Harris are among those set to star with the group again.

Producer Audree Henwood said: “Because it’s our 40th anniversary each performance will feature a different special guest artist.”

Old Hill born actress Josie Lawrence, who has been patron of the Dudley Wood based group for many years, is also expected to attend one of the shows.

Performances start at 7.15pm each night and matinees will be held on both Saturdays and Sunday January 22 - starting at 2.15pm.

Tickets, priced £8, are available from Chris Sykes on 01384 895266.
