DUDLEY residents with a spare room to hand are being urged to help out Dudley College by providing a home for an overseas student.

With the number of international students choosing to study in the borough on the rise, the college’s international team is seeking to recruit more host families who live near to the college.

The college already works with more than 20 Homestay families, who receive £450 per month to cover food and bill costs.

Krishna Singh, International Operations Manager at Dudley College, said: “Our international students are a long way from home, so we look for families who can welcome them into their homes. This gives the students a real taste of life in the Black Country and host families get to learn about the customs and cultures of other countries. If you have a spare room and would like to look after young people from overseas on a short or long stay we’d love to hear from you.“ Homestay host families need to be CRB checked and have an annual Gas Safe Certificate.
