PRETTY princesses and lively little misses are invited to take part in this year’s Wordsley Festival Princess competition.

Six to 11-year-olds keen to win a starring role at this year’s Wordsley Festival can try out for the crown - which will be presented at Ashwood Inn, Bells Lane, Wordsley, on Saturday May 12.

Youngsters aged nine to 11 can vye for the princess title, while those aged six to eight will be eligible for the rosebud category. Judging will start at 2pm.

As well as walking away with the coveted Wordsley Festival Princess tiara and sash and a basket of treats, the winners will be invited to meet the Mayor of Dudley and other dignitaries at Wordsley Festival on Saturday June 16 and will be treated like Royalty for the day.

They will also be expected to start off the Wordsley Festival Fun Run taking place in King George V Park, Bells Lane, Wordsley, on Sunday June 10.

Organiser Kay Davies said: “We’re looking for a friendly, out-going young lady and someone who can carry the princess crown with pride and be an ambassador for the festival.”

Last year pretty Kingswinford youngster Millie Smith from Fairhaven Primary School was crowned winner after impressing the judges with her elegant outfit, confidence and long blonde locks; while Mount Pleasant Primary School pupil Ebony Simcox from Quarry Bank scooped the rosebud title.

To enter this year's event, send your little princess’s name, address, age on the day, contact telephone number and cheque for the entry fee of £4 (payable to Wordsley Festival) to Wordsley Princess and Rosebud Competition, 53 Sandringham Road, Ashwood Park, Wordsley, West Midlands, DY8 5HL.
