It’s December 1st… it is now officially socially acceptable to get excited about Christmas.

And for those who soak up everything the festive season offers (myself included) and may be looking for something different yet still decidedly on-theme this Christmas, the Alton Towers resort in Staffordshire are offering up a truly magical festive getaway with their ‘Santa Sleepover’ experiences.

With the hugely popular resort totally transformed into a winter wonderland for families and guests to enjoy, visitors will be able to choose between staying in the brand new CBeebies Land hotel or one of their whimsical woodland lodges for the special stay.

And what a stay they are shaping up to be, especially for the young (and young at heart!).

Fairy-tale grottos, Christmas feasts (prepared by Mrs Claus herself, no less), songs from Santa’s Elves, unique festive dining experiences with the park’s fantastic Rollercoaster Restaurant serving up a whole new spin (quite literally) on Christmas dinner, and of course a trip to visit Santa himself are just some of the highlights on offer.

Gravity defying gravy is now officially a thing… and where else can you say your Turkey has navigated a double loop-the-loop before being eaten?

And, new for 2017, families can also opt to experience a magical tipi, where children will be greeted with a hot chocolate, and grown-ups with mulled wine, before singing carols with Mrs Claus, making Christmas decorations with the elves and enjoy story-time with Santa.

And as if that weren’t enough, the park will also be opening some of its rides and attractions to its seasonal guests. As well as enjoying the unseasonal tropical temperatures of Alton Towers Waterpark, there will be exclusive access to the likes of Go Jetters Vroomster Zoom, Postman Pat’s Special Delivery Service, In the Night Garden Magic Boat Ride and Heave Ho to name a few of the rides that will be open within CBeebies Land and Mutiny Bay.

The fun and festivities will then continue with a fun-packed family pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk, filled with magic, spectacular costumes, bags of comedy and even a giant!

Still not convinced? How about character meet & greets, live shows, a Christmas cinema and even a final farewell from Santa Claus to round out what is shaping up to be a captivating family experience.
