An eventful but tragic start to the month with the fire raging at the Heart Foundation Shop and Levine’s Furniture Store. I was in the Town Hall welcoming the Boys and Girls Brigade from the Stour Valley District to their Annual Parade and Celebration Service. Earlier I had attended the induction of Mrs Kath Forder as Lay Preacher at the New Meeting House, Church Street. It houses the beautiful Pulpit that Richard Baxter preached from in the 1600’s.

I was pleased to be guest of pupils at Foley Park School; I joined in their role play by opening the disabled facilities for the local leisure centre which the children had designed. Later I was interviewed by the School Council.

A trip down memory lane on the 8th October joining a packed Town Hall for the last Music for You Concert. I well remember the first Concert in 1982. These concerts have given so much pleasure and raised £150,000 for local charities. We look to a new generation who may give thought to organising a similar event.

The following Saturday, I was guest at the Rose Theatre for the Nonentities production of “Rebecca.” Congratulations to the Cast and a superb set design of “Manderley” by Keith Higgins and his team. A most enjoyable evening this being the 30th year of productions at the “Rose Theatre”.

Other Shows I have attended and enjoyed include “Half a Sixpence” given by The Carpet Trades Company in the Civic Centre, Stourport . “Kidderminster Rocks” a musical tribute to John Combe for his contribution to music in the Wyre Forest for the past 40 years and The Male Choir Autumn Concert – look out for their new charity CD “Hearts in Harmony”.

I presented awards to children who took part in the Summer Reading Challenge at the Library and football certificates to local teams in Springfield Park and Habberley Playing Fields during the half term holiday.

On a beautiful autumn Saturday, I joined members at Kidderminster Carolians Rugby Club for Presidents Day. After a shaky first half of the match, the Carolians came to the fore in the second half and won against Upton on Severn. I cannot remember the score, except to say it was drinks all round afterwards.

I have visited Malvern, Redditch, Bridgnorth and Worcester for Civic Events.

I attended a memorable service for the unveiling of a plaque in Worcester Guildhall dedicated to the citizens of Worcestershire who have given their lives in the service of their country since 1945.

I wish to thank Sainsbury’s for donating a food hamper to my charity Among Friends of Kidderminster a day centre for dementia in |George Street. It was a pleasure to join David Smith a Para Olympic medallist in opening the extension to Sainsbury’s.
