A KINGSWINFORD based online job board for disabled people has been highly commended at a national business competition.

Evenbreak, based in Celandine Close, was awarded the title during the Great Faces of British Business competition in the West Midlands category for business achievements.

The company is the only not-for-profit specialist online job board run by disabled people, for disabled people, in the UK.

Founded in 2011 by disabled entrepreneur Jane Hatton, she identified a number of problems around disability and employment.

Figures showed disabled people are twice as likely to be unemployed than non-disabled people and Jane was determined to change that.

The organisation narrowly missed out on a spot in the final phase of the national competition, but was named among the top entries.

Praising the firm, Business Minister Matthew Hancock said: “Evenbreak is a brilliant example of a successful small firm run by enterprising and hardworking people.

“We are backing them all the way and, with the advice and support on offer, there has never been a better time to start and grow a business in the UK.”
