The Black Country Walking Group went ahead with their scheduled bluebell walk on Saturday April 26 despite the lack of bluebells.

Last year the woods over the Waseley Hills were carpeted with bluebells by the end of April, whereas this year it is currently threadbare.

There was still plenty of interest to see on this seven mile circular walk to the Lickey Hills including the source of the river Rea, a chain of ornamental pools, and the handsome 17th century Chadwick Manor.

Joining the group, whose members range in age from 20 to 40, is an excellent way to make new friends whilst enjoying the great outdoors.

Details of walks, socials and weekends away planned for the next few months can be found in the diary at the group's website: www.blackcountrywalkinggroup.netfirms.com
