A Lapal church is celebrating after reaching its first target of pulling in £104,000 towards its revamp.
Worshippers at Carters Lane Baptist Church have raised enough cash for the first phase of the revamp of its 1930s church hall.
The hall will be renovated in three stages costing a total of £300,000.
The first phase of the project will see the rear of the hall demolished and rebuilt with a new kitchen, toilets and storage area.
The second will see the reception area rebuilt - then during the third the main part of the building will be renovated.
Church spokesman Phil Turley said: "It's going really well.
"We've reached the first target but there's more to go.
"We have had an absolutely brilliant response from the local community."
Fundraising events have included a sponsored walk which raised £1,000 and a sponsored toddle by the church's mothers' and toddlers' group which pulled in £600.
A performance by the band Deocys raised £520.
Phil said: "It was a really great evening and was attended by about 80 people."
By doing the work in stages the hall can continue to be used for fundraising events. It is used by local groups including line dancers and choirs.
Work started on the first phase in March.
