WITH New Years Eve just around the corner it is traditional to think about the year ahead and reflect upon the last 12 months.
It hardly seems 365 days ago that I was sipping champagne in the much-maligned Dome.
Of course, there has hardly been a single one of these days when this man-made monument to 2000 hasnt received the harsh edge of someones tongue.
Personally, I was delighted to be invited and feel the moans only came from those who felt they were too important to endure a little queuing like us mere mortals.
But, whatever I end up doing, whether its accompanied by fireworks, or not, I doubt very much it will be as spectacular.
That said, I must admit that all the millennium hype has, I feel fallen very flat.
In fact, in my experience the more you try to plan and organise for New Years Eve, the more disappointing results.
So, why not take a leaf out of my book and let fate take control.
The year 2001 might not be heralded with quite such acclaim but this particular optimist has high hopes it will be even better than its predecessor.
As we move ever-closer to another New Year I would like to wish each and every one of you good health, plenty of wealth and your fair share of happiness.
