A FESTIVE memorial run by a firm of Blackheath funeral directors for bereaved people to honour their loved ones has raised several hundred pounds for ill children.

FP Gaunt and Sons invited clients and families to remember their loved ones by placing a star on its Christmas tree.

Eighteen-year-old Sam Share, who is the sixth generation to work for the independent family firm, led the annual appeal, which was started four years ago following the death of his grandmother Ann Gaunt.

It raised £750 which has been donated to Russells Hall Hospital’s children’s ward and neonatal ward, which cared for Sam when he was born prematurely.

His mum, managing director Heidi Share, said: “We are extremely pleased with the amount donated and would like to express our sincere thanks to all families concerned.”
