Oldbury mum aiming high for charity fundraiser
12:00pm Friday 15th February 2013 in Local
AN OLDBURY mum is preparing to go above and beyond to raise money to fund ongoing research into the condition which affects her young son.
Nicola Monckton will be running up 658 steps and 39 levels in the Beetham Tower in Birmingham city centre on Sunday, February 24 to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Her son, George, aged two, was born with cystic fibrosis and had to undergo lifesaving surgery at four months-old.
Despite having to take medication and undergo physiotherapy every day, he is now a thriving little boy.
Nicola said: “George is a gorgeous, cheeky, outgoing, mischievous little chap and we want to do everything we can to fund research which will prolong his life.”
Nicola, who works in Dudley Council’s human resources department, has also convinced five of her colleagues to take part with her in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the cause.
