New Halesowen and Rowley Regis UKIP MP hopeful already in hot water

THE Halesowen and Rowley Regis prospective parliamentary candidate for UKIP who promised to be a “positive campaigner” in the election has already branded someone “retarded” on Twitter.

Dean Perks also courted controversy by lauding controversial anti-immigration politician Enoch Powell as “a visionary” - a mistake which forced prospective Tory candidate Nigel Hastilow to resign in 2008.

In launching his campaign last week Mr Perks said: “I hope to show people a new type of politician.

“It is not my intention to bad mouth or attack any other candidates as I believe we should all be in the running for the same purpose.”

However on Sunday he was involved in an ugly Twitter spat which resulted him writing about a fellow user of the social media site: “I just asked the question but he will not answer, I think he may be retarded.”

This followed on from an ugly argument with Gornal Labour councillor Dave Branwood who asked Mr Perks whether he thought Enoch Powell, whose 1968 Rivers of Blood speech caused his own downfall and is reviled by many to this day, was racist.

Mr Perks replied: “No. It's a fact he was very well liked amongst the Asian community. I'd say he was a visionary.”

This led to anti-facist, left wing politicians, including Dudley North Ian Austin MP and several other outraged Twitter users to round on Mr Perks calling him racist.

However, Mr Perks, fighting a rearguard action, denied he is racist.

He said: “I have never studied Enoch Powell. I'm not racist because I'm not afraid to have an opinion. I have a Muslim godson, a Sikh brother-in-law and three mixed race cousins.”

Oh! Horror, horror! Lauding Enoch Powell as a visionary just because he was right.

And calling someone a retard! Oh, how can anyone be a retard when everyone is so well informed thanks to the corporate media.

Shock news...Ian Austin and his cronies calling people names and acting like they are on the school playground
Just part of their every day routine
I urge anybody who wants proof of what tedious characters they are to have a look at their ridiculous rants on twitter

I would urge readers to check my timeline. It's all there. Labour MP Ian Austin and his sheep pushing for a reaction. Good use if tax payers money.
I never called anyone a retard simply posed the question to a man who is a former NF and BNP supporter and is now an author. I was expected to answer his questions yet he wouldn't answer mine.
I talk straight and don't suffer fools.
Thanks to the Editor for not asking my side.
Wonder Whi he votes for?

I hope none of the prospective candidates injure themselves falling over in their haste to demonstrate how utterly unelectable they are. That would be awful.

@cradley kid
I don't do playground politics so understand your comment. It annoys me that these people insist on baiting to get a pathetic story. It's also annoying that the press never ask, listen or print anything positive about UKIP. We're on our own and forced to work twice as hard to get our message out.

I'm no politician- and I'm not connected to UKIP or their candidate. But Labour councillor Dave Branwood is no politician either!

I challenge you Mr Branwood to name ONE policy from UKIP that is racist.

The Labour party (Ed Milliband) has said OFFICIALLY - that the labour policy of open door immigration has damaged this country. Does that make him a racist?

Labour have admitted the policy was an attempt to flood the country with people more likely to vote labour.

THAT IS FACT - CHECK IT OUT BEFORE YOU WRITE OR SPEAK ANOTHER WORD!

Call yourself a politician when you don't even know what your own party has done to the country!
